신소라
시각오류로부터 우리는 자유로울 수 없으며
이를 통해 ‘타인에게 비춰지는 나’와 ‘진짜 나’사이의 간격이 파생된다.
각도에 따라 컬러가 변화되는 작품소재는
같은 대상을 다르게 바라보는 관찰자의 불완전한 인식을 의미하며,
날실과 씨실이 교차되는 직조방식은
서로 다른 인식이 간격을 이루며 얽히는 과정을 재현한다.
아이러니하게도 다름은 옳고 그름을 넘어선 다양한 모양의 축복이며,
간격은 세상을 숨쉬게 하는 불편한 여백이다.
우리가 이해할 수 없는 것들을 사랑해야 하는 이유이다.
ARTIST STATEMENT
SHIN SO - RA
All of us cannot be free from optical illusion,
which makes a gap between ‘Me through my eyes’ and ‘Me through other’s eyes’.
Materials that change colours depending on viewing angle show
Incompelete perception of a human being seeing the same object differently.
The way of weaving thread(crossing warp and weft) depicts the process of weaving
different perception with some gap.
Ironically, difference is the blessing flowing from various shape beyond ideas of wrong and right. The gap is blank that makes people uncomfortable but keep the world breathing.
It is why we have to love what we cannot understand.
