“(작품설명)깊은 초록의 비리디언색에서는 파편화된 분절된 파이프들이 스치면서 지나가지만, 어떤 파이프들은 특이하게도 서로 만나 접속한다. 그림 화면 속에는 부유하던 파이프들이 순간적으로 배열화되어 연결되면서 붉게 절단된 파이프 단면에는 식물의 수맥처럼 생기있는 노랑색의 물이 스며나온다.”

나는 2016년 이후로 파이프와 기계들을 회화의 중심소재로 그림작업을 하고 있다. 이 작업 < 이벤트 >에서는 스쳐 지나가는 존재들의 특이성있는 만남과 이별을 표현하기 위해 파이프를 그림소재로 제작하였다.

만남과 이별은 때로는 기쁨과 아쉬움 등의 여러 감정들을 남긴다. 변하는 환경속에 일순간의 만남이지만, 어느 순간 여러 환경이 조합되어 특이하게 배열하여 결국은 한 인생에 하나의 사건을 만든다. 그리고 그 속에 나만의 의미를 생산한다.

그림< 이벤트 >속의 파이프가 연접과 이접을 하면서 변화하는 것처럼, 내가 살아가는 환경은 때로는 예측할 수 없을 정도로 가변적이다. 때로는 가변하는 세상에서 만남이 영원하지 못할것에 대한 두려움을 느끼기도 한다. 그러나, 언제든 헤어짐이 전제될 수 있기때문에 지금 이 순간, 이 만남이 더욱 소중하고 의미가 있으리라 생각된다.

ARTIST STATEMENT

LEE KI - YEON

"(Description of the work) In the deep green Viridian color, fragmented segmental pipes pass by, but some pipes meet and connect with each other strangely. In the picture screen, floating pipes are instantaneously arranged and connected, and the cross section of the red-cut pipe is permeated with live yellow water like the veins of plants.’

I have been painting pipes and machines as central materials for painting since 2016. In this work , pipes were made of picture materials to express the unique encounters and farewell of passing beings.

Meeting and parting sometimes leave various emotions such as joy and regret. It is a momentary meeting in a changing environment, but at some point, several environments are combined and arranged uniquely, eventually creating an event in one life. And I produce my own meaning in it.

Just as the pipes in Figure change as they connect and disconnect, the environment in which I live is sometimes unpredictably variable. Sometimes I feel afraid that meeting will not last forever in a changing world. However, at this moment, I think this meeting will be more precious and meaningful because parting can be premised at any time.
