SUPER 는 우리가 어린시절 부터 지금까지 기분좋은 한번쯤 되고싶은 존재이며 서구문화( 미국)의 상징이기도 합니다. 마치 권력의 상징이 되버린 SUPER 란 단어는 정의와 인류평화의 지킴이로 인식이 되고 있습니다.
사실 우리가 알고 있는 Superman의 이미지는 1932년 미국의 작가 제리 시걸과 캐나다 출신 만화가 조 슈스터가 오하이오주 클리블랜드에서 창조했습니다.
그렇다면, 1930년미술사 적으로 다양한 미술 사조가 일어나는 시기입니다. 세계사적으로 보면 양차 세계대전 의 사이에서 소용돌이치는시대 이기때문에 시대적으로 보면 근대인류의 가장 힘든 시대였습니다.
구성에 대한 다양하고도 복잡한 요소을 표현하기위해다양한 정체성의 캐릭터를 탄생 “ SUPER “ 라고
가칭하기도 합니다. SUPER 의 의미는 현실을 뛰어넘은 혹은 “ Something Good” 입니다.
니체Übermensc” 초인이 미국의 “Superman”으로 사용됩니다. 니체가 생각했던 위버멘쉬의 핵심은 몰락입니다. 간단하게 설명하면 파멸은 말그대로 삶의 의욕을 잃어버리고 완전히 자아를 상실하는 상태인 반면, 몰락은 재창조를 전제로 하는 개념라는 것입니다.
즉, 차라투스트라의 몰락은 자신을 둘러싼 환경에 대한 재창조의 전제인것이 되는 것입니다.
김학균의 “SUPER “ 시리즈란? “COVID-19” 시기에 집중적으로 재작되었습니다. “Pondemic” 이후 인간의 몰락이 아니 문명의 몰락으로 다시 인류가 After pandemic 이후 현) 문명을 바탕으로 이루어나갈 인류(人類)를 “SUPER “에서는 니케(그리스어: Νίκη, 영어: Nike)는 그리스 신화의 정복과 승리의 신입니다.로마 신화의 빅토리아에 해당하는 것입니다.
즉, 인류의 승리을 말하고 싶은것입니다.
그러므로 저 (김학균)의 “SUPER “ 는 강한 최고의 현 인류의 희망을 표현 한다고 말하고 싶습니다.
양식상으로 (팝과 네오팝) 이기도 하다고 덧붙여 말씀 드립니다.
저의 작품은 형식상 과장과 변형을 통한 풍자, 해학성 그리고 시니컬한 귀여움 등 순진해 보이면서 표독스러운 표정으로 동시대의 부정적인 관점을 긍적적 으로 표현했습니다.
제가 사용하는 캐릭터는 “Super baby “ “Super Dog” 으로표현하고 있습니다.
" SUPER " 를 통해 절대적인 절망에서 더 강한 희망을 표현하고 싶습니다.
ARTIST STATEMENT

Rising from the depths of despair during the COVID-19 period, my “SUPER” series emerged onto the neo-pop scene. The COVID-19 pandemic has tested us because nobody knows what is safe or when the disease will cease to threaten us. SUPER metaphorically conveys the notion of overcoming strife during a challenging time that tests our values and beliefs as a society. Friedrich Nietzsche speaks of resilience during a time of incertitude, “Out of life's school of war—what doesn't kill me, makes me stronger.” My SUPER series heals wounds as we struggle with ourselves and society to recreate broken molds and replace what has been lost. In my three-dimensional and planar work, I reinvent and reconstruct the mythology of powerful pop icons that capture the imagination of contemporary society and transform it. The creation of superheroes as a comic book genre began with the creation of Superman in 1938 by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and Superman was originally a foil to the “overman” Lex Luthor. In a sense, the “overbeing”—neither male nor female—is about self-overcoming. It involves an outlook in which life seems meaningless. Restoring meaning depends on finding a balance between darkness and light, between the irrational and the rational. In looking at how contemporary pop icons interact with their environment, I discovered that Superman has entered a cycle of downfall as a dark embodiment of terror and chaos. My work strives to restore the balance of darkness and light to depict the ascension of the “overbeing” as a guardian of justice and peace in a world overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic. My work balances passive degeneration and active regeneration through the reinvention of SUPER characters. “Super Baby” and “Super Dog” embody society’s changing attitudes, norms, and values. My work reveals how we as a society are under the sway of negative views about the contemporary era; this negative creative will manifests itself in my work as expressions that look innocent, such as satire, humor, and cynical cuteness, as well as through exaggeration and transformation of form. At the same time, my work conveys stronger hope by overcoming despair through the spirit of play with SUPER characters and provocation of thought—in the hope that my joyful thoughts become compatible with what my works ultimately express as meaningful.
